Can anyone receive dental implants?

Bruxism

Talk with your dentist or  your prosthodontist about whether you are an implant candidate. You must be in good health and have the proper bone structure and healthy gums to ensure successful implant placement. People who are unable to wear dentures may also be good candidates. If you suffer from chronic problems, such as clenching or bruxism, or systemic diseases, such as diabetes, the success rate for implants decreases dramatically. Additionally, people who smoke or drink alcohol may not be good candidates. Placing implants in young growing children is not recommended. The result are too unpredictable in children because of the continued growth of the jaw bones in children. The earliest dental implants could be considered  is around 20 years of age. Seek advice before contemplating implants in your child.
